Rhonda Smith Walston

After graduation in 1972, I attended Hardin-Simmons University. I graduated from H-SU in 1976. I met my husband in the summer of 1976. We married in June 1977. We will be celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary this June. In that period of time we've had 3 children, 5 grandchildren, lived in Houston, Singapore, Philippines, New Jersey, New York, lower Rio Grande Valley and back in Abilene for the last 4 1/2 years.

One of my favorite memories is when I heard my name called to receive the spirit stick at one of the pep rallies. It was a very exciting time for me!
A funny thing happened my senior year. It happened right before my English final that year. I leaned over to one of my friends and said, "Would you mind pushing your paper to this side of your desk?" The two of us knew I was only kidding. What I didn't realize was the teacher heard me say this. She made me move my desk up beside hers. That made me more determined to ace that final!
