Obituary of Denise Duncan Miller

Denise Duncan Miller, 68, of Greeley, CO, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born on December 1, 1953, to Lewis and Jane Duncan in Abilene, Texas.

Denise grew up in a close and loving Christian family in Abilene with sister Lavon and brother Ray. After graduating from Abilene High School in 1972, she went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business at Abilene Christian University, just a block away from their house.

She met the love of her life, Alan Miller, while attending college at Abilene Christian University in 1973. Just after graduation, Alan and Denise were married on July 25, 1975 in Abilene.

She worked for a number of years in accounting, but music and family were her true loves. She had a beautiful voice and sang in her college, church, and community choirs, played piano and flute, and assisted her mother in teaching piano while in college.

She was an exceptional mother who would also become a dear and loving grandmother.

A turning point in her life occurred shortly after she was married when she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, a condition she bravely fought throughout her life. Her joy found in warm water exercise led her to teach classes at Work Out West in Greeley for over 15 years.

Above all, Denise was a woman of deep and sincere faith with a gentle loving spirit. She taught Bible school classes at her church for many years. Obvious to all who knew her, she loved and cherished her family, and was actively involved in their lives.

Denise was a member of Journey Christian Church in Greeley.

She is survived by her father Floyd Lewis Duncan of Abilene, TX; her loving husband Alan Miller of Greeley, CO; her daughter Lauren Gonikishvili and her husband Giorgi of Greeley, her son Eric Miller of Thornton, her grandchildren Anna and Lucas Gonikishvili, her siblings Ray Duncan and his wife Sherry of Edmund, OK; Lavon Burton and her husband Brian of Abilene, TX, and many more family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her son Kevin Todd Miller and her mother Jane Evelyn (Rowan) Duncan.

A Life Celebration Memorial will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Journey Christian Church. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the reception immediately following the church service.

Same here, Ron....I smile realizing I knew her and know where she is now is beyond my imagination, while at the same time experiencing a bit of meloncholy because she is no longer with us.  May her family and other friends be comforted by His Grace at this time.
